NOW is an appropriate time for retreat, planning, preparing, visioning, and resting.  The weather and general seasonal ‘qi’ says so. According to the Asian lunar calendar we have another 4 weeks before the new year comes – this one on January 31st. And the next year is very different in its mood – the shift is from a near mystical nebulous under-the-surface slithering Water Snake winter – to a bursting into an innocent, fresh, roll-up-the-sleeves and get to work and if you fall down shake it off and try it again Wood Horse year…’Pony’ perhaps. Somehow the Snake turns into a Horse.  So right now – coming from this perspective its a good time to just pause and consider, rest, cool the jets, not get yang and aggressive – be generous and acknowledge the unseen. If you’re at all following the Chinese astrology posts I send out (and you can sign up for that on the site if you don’t get them) that’s the mood.

IT is a very amenable time for lying on an acupuncture table, on a chilly outdoor afternoon, perhaps face down with points on the outer Bladder line needled and warmed up….  These points work with the spiritual/emotional aspects of the points, and really go deep right now. The outer point for the Lungs seem to work with resolving old grief, the Heart points with depression and joy, with the Liver/GB for not only resolving anger but allowing for deeper vision, the Kidneys with strengthening will and root power, etc.  I often combine these with ‘open’ points according to the Tong Shu calender, some as mentioned in the astro updates – these are points said to be open for ‘everybody’ that change every 2 hours.  These days a little wu-wu seems to be the way to clear very old and unresolved business.  With the new lunar year, with acu treatments and medicine in general the ‘fix it’ approaches should be popular and where the momentum is – look to the chiropractors doing better business and acupuncture working well that focuses on musculoskeletal conditions and pain relief.
